内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Under the rule of Mongols, or Dai Ӧn Yeke Monγol Ulus (元朝), the Kings of Koryŏ (高麗) married the Princesses of the Imperial Family, and received the title “the Imperial Son-in-law King of Koryŏ (駙馬高麗国王)”. This is a significant point in understanding the relation between the two states. But, positive understanding about the concrete details is not enough, particularly in terms of the systems. In this paper, I attempted to clarify the rudimentary facts, such as the process of the King of Koryŏ getting married to the Princess first and receiving the above mentioned title, and its fundamental characters of the systems, which are premises to investigate the historical meaning of “the Imperial Son-in-law King of Koryŏ”.Initially the Mongols kept guard against Koryŏ that had surrendered after a long resistance, when the man of power in Koryŏ, Im Yŏn (林衍) dethroned the King Wŏnjong (元宗) in 1269, the Emperor (qa’an) Qubilai suppressed it while considering to abolish the Koryŏ dynasty. Under such condition, however, the King Ch’ungyŏlwang (忠烈王, the crown prince at the time) requested Qubilaii to allow him to marry the Princess. By expressing his obedience, he searched for ways of preserving the dynasty and regaining the power of the King. On the other hand, the Mongols needed to consider the situation of conquering Nan Song (南宋), and making Japan surrender. As a result, the Mongols decided to conciliate Koryŏ, and the marriage was concluded. But it is not until the title “the Imperial Son-in-law King of Koryŏ” was formed in 1281 that the king got the substantial status as the Imperial Son-in-law (駙馬). In this way, the King of Koryŏ came to exist as one oof tou-xia (投下), a kind of feudal lord which constituted Yeke Monγol Ulus, such as the Kings of Imperial Family (諸王), the Imperial Sons-in-law, and others, or Gao-li wang wei-xia (高麗王位下).
